Opposition parties in Bangladesh plan long marches and mass rallies

Opposition groups in Bangladesh are planning a series of political demonstrations and long marches to increase pressure on the government. The National Citizen Party (NCP) intends to participate in marches toward the Chattogram, Rangpur, Khulna, and Sylhet divisions throughout September and October, culminating in a mass rally in Dhaka on November 14. The NCP is currently working in coordination with the 11-party alliance to strengthen its organizational capacity and hold the government accountable.

In a separate statement, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed noted that while staging long marches is a democratic right, opposition parties should avoid causing a deliberate shutdown of the country. Addressing the ongoing gas and electricity shortages, Rizvi attributed the crisis to global conditions rather than the incumbent government. He urged the opposition to present concrete alternative proposals in Parliament to resolve national crises instead of relying solely on street protests.
