Oradea launches training for new digitalized ecological waste islands
The Oradea City Hall has launched an information and training campaign for residents in the Dacia – George Călinescu area regarding the use of new digitalized ecological islands for waste collection. These new points are scheduled to become operational starting Monday, September 28.
To ensure proper usage, the municipality is organizing field meetings with representatives from homeowners' associations. For example, a session is scheduled for September 23 at Bulevardul Dacia nr. 104 to cover 10 islands, followed by another on September 24 at strada George Călinescu nr. 1 for 16 additional islands. The information campaign will continue weekly through the end of October.
The installation of these waste collection points was funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). A total of 367 ecological islands have been installed across Oradea, with 100 placed in 2024 and 267 during the current year. The city is implementing a phased rollout to allow for adequate resident instruction, drawing on experience from the initial 100 operational units. Each island features five modules designed for the separate collection of biodegradable, residual, glass, and other waste fractions.
