Oradea State Theatre facade undergoes major renovation
The facade of the Oradea State Theatre, a significant architectural monument in Oradea, Romania, has been successfully repaired and rehabilitated. The project, which concluded with a formal reception on October 19, involved the complete repair and painting of the building's exterior.
In addition to aesthetic improvements, the renovation included the replacement of three main doors on the King Ferdinand Square facade, as well as the staff and artist entrance, which now features a new card-based access control system to enhance security. The large rear door used for introducing stage sets was also replaced.
The works were carried out by the company Abed Nego between August 16 and September 30, based on a project by architect Ernest Pafka. The total investment amounted to 649,703 lei. This exterior renovation is part of a broader modernization effort for the building, which includes ongoing partial rehabilitation of the heating and cooling systems to improve conditions for both staff and spectators.
The building serves as the home for two institutions under the Bihor County Council: the Romanian-language Regina Maria Theatre and the Hungarian-language Szigligeti Theatre.
