Romanian theatre heritage rehabilitation

Overview

Several historic theatre buildings in Romania are undergoing renovation and modernization efforts.

In Petroșani, the I. D. Sîrbu Dramatic Theatre has entered a rehabilitation phase for its primary structure. Following previous energy and aesthetic renovations to the main hall funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, the Hunedoara County Council has secured funding to modernize the older building. The project aims for both energetic and aesthetic improvements, with completion expected by the end of the year.

In Oradea, the facade of the Oradea State Theatre has been repaired and rehabilitated. The project included painting the exterior and replacing several doors, including the staff and artist entrance, which now utilizes a card-based access control system. This exterior work is part of a broader modernization effort that includes the partial rehabilitation of heating and cooling systems for the building, which houses both the Regina Maria Theatre and the Szigligeti Theatre.
