Orange County Fair Arrow Accident Injures Circus Performer in New York
A crossbow act at the Orange County Fair in Middletown, New York, went wrong on Friday night when a female performer shot an arrow that struck her male partner in the neck. The injured performer, identified as Edwin Cuervo Rangel, was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center in stable condition. Circus Murcia ringmaster Benjamin Jackson said the arrow hit a soft‑tissue area with no major blood vessels, and the performer underwent surgery before being released from the hospital a few days later.
The circus cancelled the crossbow portion of the show that night but resumed its regular schedule without the risky act. Owner Alexander Murcia thanked first responders and asked the public to respect the performer’s privacy, urging people to share positive images of the circus rather than the accident footage.
