Orca AI and Samsung Heavy Industries launch BerthView berthing solution
Maritime technology firm Orca AI and Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) have commercially launched BerthView, a berthing assistance solution designed to provide continuous situational awareness from open-water navigation through the final stages of berthing.
The system integrates Orca AI’s SeaPod digital watchkeeper with SHI’s SVISION system. It utilizes AI and computer vision to detect and track navigational hazards, while adding a dedicated perception layer for close-quarters maneuvering. Using fisheye cameras positioned on bridge wings, BerthView provides a 360-degree bird’s-eye view, featuring visual distance guides and virtual safety boundaries to help crews assess clearance from quay walls and nearby vessels.
BerthView is available for retrofit on existing vessels and can be integrated into newbuilds. The solution also connects to Orca AI’s FleetView platform, allowing shore-based teams to review incidents and use operational data for crew training. The collaboration aims to accelerate the commercial deployment of autonomous vessel technology.
