Ordu farmers combat brown marmorated stink bugs
Agricultural producers in Ordu, Turkey, are implementing measures to combat the brown marmorated stink bug, a pest that damages hazelnuts, crops, flowers, and plants. As the insects seek shelter for the winter, they are migrating to attics, barns, stables, and woodpiles.
To address the infestation, the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, alongside local chambers of agriculture, is providing training to farmers. These educational programs focus on the correct selection of pesticides, application methods, and the proper use of equipment. Experts emphasize that spraying wintering sites is critical to reducing the pest population and preventing significant damage to crops and fruit in the coming year.
