Ordu municipality readies lifeguard teams for summer beach season
The Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department's Water Accident Prevention Center (OSKEM) completed a 21‑hour theoretical and practical lifeguard training program for 120 personnel, delivered by the Turkish Underwater Sports Federation. The training covered rescue techniques, first‑aid, emergency response and equipment use.
From 15 June to 15 September, OSKEM crews will be on duty each day from 10:30 to 19:00 at 27 beaches across the Altınordu, Perşembe, Fatsa, Ünye and Gülyalı districts. Safety measures include five jet‑skis, three Zodiac boats, two ATVs, warning and information signs, life rings, watch‑towers and QR‑code‑linked signage directing swimmers to safe zones. The teams aim to prevent drownings and provide public guidance on safe swimming.
