Ordu, Turkey launches hazelnut yield survey and worker recruitment program

Field surveys to estimate the 2026 hazelnut (fındık) harvest began in Ordu Province, Turkey. Coordinated by the provincial Agriculture and Forestry Directorate, teams will inspect about 400 orchards at different altitudes until 23 July, recording fruit density, disease, pest damage and the proportion of empty versus filled nuts to produce the most accurate yield forecast.

At the same time, the municipal "Fındık Dalda, Aklın İşçide Kalmasın" project entered its seventh season, providing a matchmaking service between hazelnut growers and seasonal laborers. Launched by Ordu Metropolitan Municipality, the scheme previously linked 3,149 orchard owners with 10,910 workers and this year aims for record participation, helping growers secure the workforce needed for harvest operations.
