Oregon Ducks start preseason practice indoors amid wildfire smoke

The University of Oregon football team began its fall camp on Wednesday, moving the first session inside the Moshofsky Center because of hazardous wildfire smoke in the Eugene area. Head coach Dan Lanning said the players "flew around" and expressed satisfaction with the conditioning checks and the team's readiness, noting the challenge of the first day without pads.

Freshman wide receiver Jalen Lott, a five‑star recruit from Texas, made a standout play in the practice, leaping for a contested deep catch from quarterback Dante Moore. Lanning highlighted Lott’s performance as an early sign of the depth and talent in the Ducks' receiving corps.

The practice will continue outdoors Thursday as the team prepares for a third straight College Football Playoff run.
