Oregon man accused of $1.3M NFL impersonation scam

Federal authorities have charged 35-year-old Daejon Labrayae Love and 18-year-old Taylor Jamie Chan with allegedly scamming at least 26 women across four states out of approximately $1.3 million. According to the FBI and the Department of Justice, the pair used dating apps to target victims, with Love posing as a San Francisco 49ers player or a wealthy Swiss real estate developer, while Chan allegedly acted as his financial advisor.

The scheme reportedly utilized social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn to build a convincing false persona. Investigators noted that Love’s digital footprint was so extensive that Google’s AI-generated search summaries occasionally identified him as a legitimate NFL player, which helped bolster the credibility of the fraud when victims attempted to verify his identity.
