Oregon's Hagen Fire Triggers Level 3 Evacuations in Union and Umatilla Counties
The Hagen Fire is burning in northeastern Oregon, prompting officials to upgrade evacuation orders on July 28, 2026. Level 3 (Go Now) orders now cover areas north of Forest Service Road 31 in Union County and sections of NF Road 3150, Buck Mountain, Thomas Creek, Ruckel Junction and the west side of NF Road 31 in Umatilla County. Level 2 (Be Set) and Level 1 (Be Ready) notices also apply to surrounding zones, including Phillips Creek, areas west of Highway 204, and the intersection of Forest Service Roads 32 and 3217.
A joint Emergency Operations Center—comprising the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office, Umatilla County Emergency Management, Union County Sheriff’s Office, Union County Emergency Management and the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation—along with the Northwest Incident Management Team 7 is actively coordinating the response. Officials warn that rugged terrain and forecast weather could cause rapid, unpredictable fire spread. Residents are urged to monitor the fire, avoid unnecessary travel, and evacuate promptly if conditions worsen, even without a formal order. Fire engines, law enforcement and other emergency responders remain on the scene throughout the affected areas.
