Oregon's Lower Dry Creek Fire Fully Contained

Firefighters have brought the Lower Dry Creek Fire in Umatilla County, Oregon, under full control. The blaze, which burned roughly 8,100 acres near the town of Weston, was reported at 57% containment on July 18, 2026 and later achieved 100% containment, allowing crews to begin demobilization.

The fire destroyed six primary residences and 40 outbuildings. Evacuation zones have been reduced and the Red Cross shelter in Pendleton has closed. Authorities reported that the fire does not now threaten homes or established control lines, and air‑quality monitoring continues. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
