Organ donation efforts highlighted in Caserta hospital and Molise police academy, Italy
In Caserta, the parents of a teenage boy who died from a severe cranial trauma consented to donate his organs. The Sant’Anna and San Sebastiano Hospital, in coordination with the Campania Regional Transplant Center, retrieved his heart, kidneys and corneas after brain‑death confirmation, contributing to the five multiorgan and six cornea donations recorded in 2026.
In Campobasso, AIDO Molise organized a session on organ, tissue and cell donation for police cadets at the Giulio Rivera police school. Officials from the association, the Cardarelli Hospital intensive‑care unit and national AIDO representatives presented scientific information and stressed the importance of informed consent, aiming to raise awareness among future law‑enforcement officers.
