Organization of Turkic States discusses economic integration in Baku

The second International Conference of Leading National Analytical Centers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was held in Baku to address economic cooperation, regional integration, and sustainable development. The event, co-organized by the Secretariat of the OTS and the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC), focused on leveraging the economic potential of member and observer states, which possess a combined population of approximately 180 million.

Key discussions centered on the Middle Corridor, aiming to establish it as a strategic transport and economic backbone for the Turkic world by 2040. Participants emphasized the need to harmonize infrastructure and customs systems, improve logistics, and develop regional value chains.

Panelists also addressed the transition toward a more integrated economic space by reducing internal barriers. Experts noted that while trade turnover among OTS states is growing, it remains modest due to challenges in economic complementarity. The demographic profile of the region was highlighted as a significant asset, with approximately 40% of the 180 million population being under the age of 25.
