Organization of Turkic States marks 17 years of cooperation

The Organization of Turkic States (OTS) is marking the 17th anniversary of the Nakhchivan Agreement, which established the foundation for cooperation among Turkic-speaking nations. Since its inception, the organization has evolved from the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States into a robust institutional framework involving full members Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, with Northern Cyprus, Hungary, and Turkmenistan holding observer status.

OTS Secretary General Kubanichbek Omuraliyev highlighted the organization's significant growth, noting that cooperation now spans over 65 mechanisms covering foreign policy, trade, tourism, agriculture, and education. He reported a massive increase in trade volume, rising from approximately $9 billion in 2021 to nearly $200 billion today. The organization is also working toward the ‘Turkic World-2040 Vision,’ focusing on political solidarity, economic integration, and cultural projects such as the development of a common Turkic alphabet.

Turkey is scheduled to host the 13th OTS Summit on October 29-30 to further advance these strategic and economic partnerships.
