Global civil unrest reported over public service and infrastructure failures
Various regions are experiencing civil unrest and protests driven by deficiencies in public services and infrastructure.
In Mexico, residents in San Luis Potosí blocked major intersections to protest water shortages, noting that utility bills arrive despite a lack of supply. In Veracruz, demonstrators blocked the La Tinaja-Cosamaloapan highway to denounce alleged police abuses and extortion by state security forces. Additionally, parents in Tezonapa and Torreón have staged road blockades to protest teacher shortages and school leadership issues, respectively.
In Spain, labor unions and parents are raising alarms over educational conditions. CCOO in Cuenca is demanding the classification of schools under unsustainable structural pressure, while families in Orihuela and Vigo have protested against deteriorating school buildings and insufficient staffing.
Other localized grievances include residents in San Ceferino III, Argentina, demanding infrastructure repairs following storms, and families in San Juan de Miraflores, Peru, seeking increased security after thefts at an early childhood education center.
