Orleans and Três Lagoas strengthen civil‑defense measures ahead of El Niño 2026

The municipality of Orleans is intensifying river, stream and drainage cleaning as part of its El Niño 2026 preparation. Civil‑defense coordinator Alan Andrade Firmiano said the work aims to improve water flow and lower flood risk, while Mayor Fernando Cruzetta stressed the priority of preventive actions for the upcoming heavy‑rain season.

In Três Lagoas, the city has opened registrations for a training program on its Municipal Contingency Plan. The course will cover operational procedures, risk‑area mapping, alert systems and volunteer roles, supporting the broader restructuring of the local civil‑defense system under Mayor Cassiano Maia.
