Orleans Brandão expands municipal backing in Maranhão

Orleans Brandão, the MDB pre‑candidate for governor of Maranhão, held a series of meetings with local officials to broaden his municipal support base. In Loreto, he met a group led by former deputy mayor Alessandro Costa, who pledged backing for Brandão’s campaign and highlighted past cooperation on municipal investments.

During a two‑day agenda in São Luís, Brandão convened dozens of mayors, the state governor Carlos Brandão, and Senator Weverton Rocha. He reiterated the importance of strong ties between the state government and municipalities, citing his former role as head of the Secretariat of Municipal Affairs and promising to continue that collaborative model. Municipal leaders praised his willingness to listen and work with local administrations.

The outreach aims to solidify Brandão’s political network ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election, emphasizing dialogue and joint projects for the development of Maranhão’s cities.
