Orleans Brandão launches Maranhão gubernatorial campaign

Orleans Brandão, the MDB candidate for the Governor of Maranhão, has launched his 2026 electoral campaign through televised programs and regional tours. His campaign emphasizes his experience as the former Secretary of State for Municipal Affairs, during which he visited all 217 municipalities in the state.

During his campaign stops, Brandão has announced several infrastructure and security commitments. In São Roberto, he proposed urbanizing sanitation areas into leisure spaces and implementing a modern video monitoring center under the ‘Cinturão da Paz’ program. In Codó, he pledged to transform the Municipal General Hospital into a State Regional Hospital and establish a military high school by 2027. In São José de Ribamar, he promised to duplicate the MA-202 highway and expand paving in local communities.

His electoral debut featured the advertisement ‘O Maranhão Chamou’, which focuses on the state's cultural and social diversity, positioning his municipalist background as a key asset for governing the entire state.
