Orleans Brandão pledges tourism boost and condemns São Luís transit crisis in Maranhão campaign

Pre‑candidate Orleans Brandão (MDB) toured Bela Vista in Maranhão, announcing a commitment to pave the road to the Lagoa do Caboclo Morto as a new regional tourism hub. He highlighted past achievements such as the Popular Restaurant, the Maranhão Livre da Fome program, expanded youth employment initiatives, and infrastructure projects like the Avenida Metropolitana. Separately, Brandão attacked the public‑transport situation in São Luís, calling it “uma vergonha”. He cited nine strikes over five years, a drop from 900 to 500 buses, and urged the incoming governor to take direct responsibility rather than shift blame. He promised to continue mobility projects and social‑transfer programs if elected, emphasizing accountability and proactive management.
