ORLEN launches first oil recycling machine in Płock
ORLEN, in collaboration with EMKA OIL, has launched its first ‘oilomat’ at a fuel station in Płock, Poland. This pilot project allows residents to conveniently dispose of used cooking oil (UCO) rather than pouring it into the sewage system.
The collected oil and fats, including those from frying, salads, or canned goods, will be processed into valuable raw materials for the production of fuel biocomponents. This initiative is part of ORLEN Group’s strategy to implement circular economy solutions and increase the use of biological raw materials within its refinery assets.
Ireneusz Sitarski, Vice President of ORLEN for Downstream, noted that the project aims to turn waste into a resource while reducing dependence on external market volatility. The location in Płock was chosen for its proximity to residential areas, schools, and shopping centers to integrate the recycling process into daily consumer routines.
