Orlen launches pilot used cooking oil collection program in Płock
Orlen, in collaboration with EMKA OIL, has launched a pilot program in Płock featuring the first 'Olejomat'—a device designed to collect used cooking oil (UCO) at a fuel station. The initiative aims to promote a circular economy by preventing domestic fats from being poured into sewage systems, which can cause pipe blockages and damage wastewater treatment plants.
Collected oil will be processed into raw materials for the production of advanced biofuel components. To encourage participation, the program utilizes a mobile application where users can earn points for disposing of oil correctly. These points can be redeemed for rewards, such as free coffee or hot dogs, or donated to educational institutions through a dedicated program.
