ORLEN leads Baltic Energy Initiative with 13 European firms

ORLEN and 13 other energy companies and organizations from Northern and Central Europe have signed an agreement to cooperate under the Baltic Energy Initiative. The initiative aims to strengthen energy security and regional competitiveness through joint projects.

Key focus areas include offshore wind energy, LNG and BioLNG integration, the development of a regional hydrogen market, carbon capture and storage (CCS), nuclear energy, and small modular reactors (SMR). The partnership brings together signatories from Poland, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Norway.

Participating entities include Eesti Energia, Enefit, Fortum, KN Energies, DNV Energy Systems, Topsoe, Siemens Energy, Adven, Steady Energy, P2X Solutions, Latvenergo, Gasgrid Finland, and Orsted. ORLEN CEO Ireneusz Fąfara stated that the initiative allows companies to combine competencies, infrastructure, and investment potential to better utilize international financing and shape the direction of the energy transition.
