Orquesta Sinfónica Infantil de México launches 34th national tour after intensive camp in Oaxtepec
The Sistema Nacional de Fomento Musical held the 34th Campamento Intensivo de Estudio for the Orquesta Sinfónica Infantil de México (OSIM) in Oaxtepec. The program gathered 142 young instrumentalists aged 8‑17 from 26 Mexican states and from Uruguay, Costa Rica and Panama. Director Roberto Rentería oversaw individual lessons, master classes and ensemble rehearsals aimed at strengthening musical skills and teamwork.
Following the camp, the OSIM will embark on a seven‑concert national tour from 3 to 9 August, visiting Morelos, San Luis Potosí, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Michoacán and concluding at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City. Four of the concerts are part of the Orquestas por la Paz circuit, intended to bring symphonic music to priority communities. The repertoire includes works by Verdi, Tchaikovsky, and Mexican composers, highlighting the orchestra’s 24‑year legacy and the government’s cultural decentralization efforts.
