Çorum Castle restoration project completed in Turkey

The second phase of the Çorum Castle restoration project in Turkey has been completed. The historic structure, estimated to have been built by Sultan Kılıç Arslan of the Anatolian Seljuk State in the 11th century, underwent a three-year reinforcement process to strengthen its stone walls.

As part of the project, private properties adjacent to the castle were expropriated to ensure the historical site remains independent. The restoration utilized local stones to maintain historical integrity, with academic support provided by Hacı Bayram Veli University.

Çorum Municipality plans to develop approximately 6,000 square meters within the castle to boost local tourism. Planned facilities include a boutique hotel, a local restaurant, a coffeehouse, a toy museum, and a castle museum. Additionally, a registered mosque and three historic mansions within the castle grounds will be restored for public use.
