Historical restoration projects in Çorum

Overview

The Çorum Municipality is undertaking several projects to restore and enhance the historical and architectural identity of Çorum, Turkey.

In early September, plans were announced for the construction of the Historical Çorum Mansion in the Historical Çorum Square. The project, inspired by a government mansion destroyed by fire in the 1950s, aims to modernize the historical essence of the original structure. The 1,600-square-meter project is expected to be completed by June of the following year.

Concurrently, the second phase of a three-year restoration of the 11th-century Çorum Castle has been completed. The project involved reinforcing the stone walls of the Seljuk-era structure using local stones. To support local tourism, the municipality plans to develop 6,000 square meters within the castle grounds, including a boutique hotel, museums, and restaurants, alongside the restoration of a mosque and three historic mansions.
