Çorum to rebuild historical mansion inspired by lost landmark
The Çorum Municipality is set to begin construction of the Historical Çorum Mansion, a project designed to restore the city's traditional architectural identity. The new structure will be located in the Historical Çorum Square, adjacent to the Ulu Mosque.
The project draws inspiration from the former government mansion, which was completely destroyed in a fire during the 1950s. Mayor Dr. Halil İbrahim Aşgın stated that rather than creating an exact replica, the design modernizes the historical essence of the original building, reflecting how it might have been constructed today.
Spanning approximately 1,600 square meters, the project aims to enhance the city's historical silhouette. The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, September 5, at 13:30 in the Historical Çorum Square, with completion targeted for June of next year.
