Orville Peck releases ‘Already Gone’ single about addiction and rehab

Country artist Orville Peck has released the music video for ‘Already Gone,’ a new single from his upcoming album, Mule, scheduled for release on September 18. The song and its accompanying video explore a period of addiction and subsequent rehabilitation.

Produced by Jay Joyce and co-written with Jacob Portrait, the track utilizes a rowdy, barroom-anthem energy to depict the denial Peck experienced when first entering treatment. The music video juxtaposes the drab reality of rehab—including therapy sessions and urine tests—with choreographed, fantasy-like sequences. Peck stated that the song’s exuberant tone reflects his ‘arrogant mindset’ at the time, where he viewed the experience as a lighthearted musical despite being in a total crisis.

Peck will begin his ‘Man Turned Mule’ Tour on September 18 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
