Osaka and Tokyo host regional food fairs showcasing Shikoku and Kyushu specialties

From July 22‑27 2026, the Hanshin Umeda flagship store in Osaka will host "Imadoki! Shikoku," a food fair featuring dozens of products from Japan’s Shikoku region. The event highlights items such as Ehime‑produced Waseong mandarin juice, almond‑fish snacks, tororo noodles, local craft beers, and specialty sakes, many of which are grown with reduced pesticide use. A bar will serve regional sake and beer, and stalls will offer smoked fish, eel‑flavored snacks, and other traditional treats.

From July 29 to August 4 2026, Tobu Department Store’s Ikebukuro location in Tokyo will hold the "Daikyushu Exhibition," gathering 77 vendors from the seven Kyushu prefectures. Visitors can sample brand‑beef lunchboxes on "Meat Day," Kyushu‑style sweets such as sweet‑potato parfaits, and spicy dishes featuring Kagoshima‑origin black‑hair wagyu and mentaiko. The fair also includes craft items from the region, providing a miniature “Kyushu tour” within the department store.

Both fairs aim to bring regional Japanese cuisine and culture to metropolitan shoppers, offering a concentrated tasting experience of Shikoku and Kyushu foods during the summer heat.
