Oseacco exhibition commemorates 50 years of solidarity after Friuli earthquake

An exhibition titled ‘Cantù – Resia · Operazione Amicizia – 1976-2026’ will open on August 20 at the Church of Oseacco to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1976 Friuli earthquake.

Promoted by the Comitato Pro Oseacco APS, the event features historical photographs and documents detailing the earthquake's impact, the emergency response, and the subsequent reconstruction efforts. A central focus of the exhibition is the ‘Operation Friendship’ bond between the towns of Cantù and Resia. Following the disaster, aid from the Cantù region led to the creation of the Villaggio Lario in Oseacco, establishing a long-standing human connection between the two communities.

The exhibition aims to preserve the collective memory of the disaster and the solidarity that followed, sharing these stories of community rebirth with younger generations.
