Osiedle Maltańskie residents appeal to Polish leaders over evictions

Residents of the Maltańskie Estate in Poznań are appealing to Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and President Karol Nawrocki for intervention following recent evictions. The Maltańskie Nasz Dom Association claims that approximately 200 families are at risk of losing their homes.

The 12.2-hectare site at ul. Warszawska 82 is owned by JHM Development, which purchased the land from the archdiocese for 421.18 million PLN net. The developer intends to construct over 2,000 new apartments on the property.

Protesters recently attempted to block bailiff actions, leading to police intervention where over 60 people were identified and two individuals were reportedly injured. Residents have criticized the Poznań local government, alleging that officials have limited their involvement to discussions rather than providing substantive support to prevent homelessness.
