Film festivals in Osijek and Sombor launch July showcases of emerging regional cinema

The "SIROVINA" film revue organized by Kino Klub Osijek took place on July 3‑4 at the Old Bakery courtyard in Osijek, Croatia. The two‑day program offered free public access to an exhibition, a "KKO in editing" session featuring nine unfinished local films, and screenings of ten completed works from the club’s archive, followed by guest selections from film clubs in Zagreb, Split, Ogulin and the Blank association.

From July 9‑12, the Sombor Film Festival in Serbia presented a four‑day programme of free screenings and competitions. Films from Serbia, Hungary, Romania, Austria, Slovakia and Croatia were shown, including regional dramas, award‑winning productions and works by young creators. The festival highlighted Slovak cinema, featured a retrospective of the city’s film heritage, and awarded prizes named after early local pioneer Ernest Bošnjač. Both events were supported by regional cultural institutions and aimed to promote emerging authors and the cinematic heritage of the Danube‑Pannonian area.
