Osijek hosts concert marking 800th anniversary of St. Francis of Assisi

A commemorative concert was held on Sunday, October 18, at the St. James Capuchin Church in Osijek to mark the 800th anniversary of the passing of St. Francis of Assisi.

The event featured two main segments. In the first part, Fra Miroslav Petrac performed five original compositions, including ‘Gospodin ti dao mir’ and ‘Ave Maria’. The second part featured the mixed choir of the St. Joseph Singing Society Osijek, conducted by Dora Klaić with accompaniment by Mirta Masle. The choir performed nine pieces, including ‘Adoramus’ and ‘Tužaljka’, with soloists Valentina Vojnović and Zvonimir Klaić.

The concert concluded with a joint performance of the ‘Canticle of the Creatures’ by Fra Miroslav Petrac and the choir. Fra Juro Šimić, the guardian of the Capuchin monastery, addressed the audience, expressing gratitude to the performers and reflecting on the simplicity and spiritual connection to God embodied by St. Francis.
