OSIPTEL guides telecom users at Paita fair in Peru

The Organism Supervisor of Private Investment in Telecommunications (OSIPTEL) took part in the Feria Informativa y de Servicios Paita 2026, held in the Plaza Mayor of Paita Alta, Piura region. The regulator offered free advice to citizens on their rights and obligations as users of public telecom services, answering questions on mobile and fixed telephone, internet, and cable TV.

OSIPTEL demonstrated two digital tools: the “Checa tus líneas” app, which lets users verify in real time how many mobile lines are registered to their national ID to prevent identity theft, and the “Checa tu caso” platform for filing and tracking complaints against operators such as Movistar, Claro, Entel and Bitel. Attendees were encouraged to use these tools and were given contact details for the regional office in Piura (Arequipa 1074) and a free phone line (1844).
