Osiptel to block 360,000 mobile devices in Peru

Osiptel has scheduled the blocking of 360,000 mobile devices in Peru throughout August. The blockages are set to occur in three stages on August 11, 18, and 25, with 120,000 devices targeted on each date.

The measure affects devices not included in the Renteseg white list and those linked to individuals who previously used equipment with altered International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) numbers. This action is part of an ongoing effort to combat the illegal trade of mobile phones. Since April 2025, the cumulative number of blocked devices has exceeded 4.9 million.
