Turkey implements various student support and integration initiatives

Various regional initiatives in Turkey are focusing on student development, social integration, and welfare.

In Bursa, Osmangazi Municipality launched the ‘New City, Your New Story’ project to welcome new students at Bursa Uludağ University. The initiative provides information on municipal services, including free libraries, study areas, and cultural events, to encourage students to participate in urban life. Meanwhile, in the Yenişehir district, the municipality is working to reopen the Hacı Asiye İsmet Orhan Student Dormitory to address a shortage of male student housing, which has forced some students to freeze their education.

On a national scale, the Directorate of Migration Management organized a program at Hacettepe University to develop ‘Peer Guidance’ models. This event brought together Turkish and international students from nine universities to create inclusive social integration models, focusing on language support, social interaction, and community belonging.

Additionally, educational outreach continues through the TÜBİTAK science programs. In Biga, an information meeting was held for nine schools to support scientific research projects, while in Gaziantep, the ‘Science in the Village’ project provided STEM-based learning experiences to students in rural schools to promote equality in scientific education.
