Report-card celebrations held across Turkish cities as dress‑code dispute sidelines students

Municipalities in several Turkish provinces organised large "Karne Şenlikleri" to mark the end of the 2025‑2026 school year. In Bursa's Yıldırım district the municipality hosted a Karne Festival with science shows, robot activities and performances, while Konya's Meram district opened the 80 Binde Devr‑i Alem Park for games, concerts and workshops. Similar events were held in Nevşehir's Kapadokya Cultural Center, Düzce's Science Centre, and other towns, offering free entertainment, sports facilities and educational programmes for thousands of children and their families.

At the same time, a controversy unfolded in Adana’s Feke district where 35 pupils were denied their report cards for arriving in civilian clothing. Mother Nur Gün said, "Karnesini almadan eve dönmesi bizi çok üzdü," and the district education directorate launched an investigation while the school distributed the withheld reports individually to families.

Students across the country expressed mixed feelings about the transition to summer vacation. One seventh‑grader from Mersin said, "Tatilin yarısını dinlenerek, yarısını LGS'ye çalışarak geçireceğim," while many praised the festive atmosphere of the municipal celebrations. The Ministry of National Education also provided development reports alongside the traditional report cards for primary and secondary pupils.
