Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke urges judicial reform for Nigeria's democracy

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke addressed the 2026 annual national conference of Egbe Amofin Oodua in Ile Ifẹ, calling equitable, just and transparent administration of justice essential for the survival of Nigeria’s democracy. He urged judges and legal practitioners to uphold the rule of law, ethical conduct and independence, warning that bias, corruption or undue influence erodes public confidence in the courts.

Adeleke described the judiciary as the “last hope of the common man,” emphasizing that integrity, impartiality and accountability in judicial decisions strengthen political stability, national unity and the credibility of electoral processes. He appealed to all stakeholders to ensure that judicial interventions in elections are guided by law, evidence and constitutional principles, and to maintain confidence in the institutions that protect citizens’ rights.
