Osun Governor condemns killing of 14‑year‑old Ezekiel Olapade in Ilobu
Governor Ademola Adeleke visited the family of 14‑year‑old Ezekiel Olapade in Ilobu, Osun State, and condemned the boy’s death as “barbaric, cowardly and a direct attack on democracy.” He warned that “you cannot kill your way to the Government House,” pledged that security agencies would arrest and prosecute anyone involved, and ordered the police commissioner and the DSS to pursue the perpetrators.
Ezekiel’s father, Gbenga Olapade, recounted that the shooting occurred near the entrance of the Irepodun Local Government Secretariat when a group of hoodlums, allegedly led by Saheed Tanfeani, opened fire. Police officers were present but did not intervene. The boy was hit while trying to help his mother after she fell. The father is calling for justice and has appealed for national attention to the incident.
