Osun NOA urges voters to reject apathy and vote‑buying ahead of 2026 election

On Tuesday the National Orientation Agency (NOA) convened a town‑hall meeting in Osogbo, Osun State, to sensitize citizens ahead of the August 15, 2026 gubernatorial election. NOA Director‑General Mallam Lanre Issa‑Onilu, represented by Zonal Director Kehinde Ogunkuade, addressed a broad mix of stakeholders – traditional rulers, religious leaders, political party representatives, security agents, youth and women groups, civil‑society organisations and media practitioners.

Issa‑Onilu called on every eligible voter to view voting as a civic duty and a patriotic responsibility, urging peaceful turnout and a rejection of vote‑buying and election‑related violence. He warned that voter apathy and the sale of votes erode democratic development and lead to poor governance, unemployment, insecurity and inadequate public services, stressing that “your vote is your voice.”
