Osun State Police arrest suspect in Emir Ajagungbade murder

The Osun State Police Command has arrested Waliyi Adejare, also known as Jay Jay, in connection with the murder of Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as Emir Ajagungbade. The arrest took place in the Oke Baale area of Osogbo. While Adejare is considered a primary suspect and an associate of a factional NURTW chairman, police spokesperson Abiodun Ojelabi stated that investigations are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances of the arrest and any direct link to the killing.

The murder occurred at Mayfair garage amidst a leadership struggle within the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the state. In response to the violence, Governor Ademola Adeleke announced the proscription of the NURTW in Osun State and ordered the immediate vacation of all motor parks by warring factions.

To restore order, the Governor announced the reintroduction of a Park Management System, which will be given legal backing through an upcoming Executive Order. Security agencies have been directed to ensure peace and arrest all individuals involved in the killing.
