Osun State Police deploy tactical teams to Osogbo after cult violence

The Osun State Police Command has deployed tactical teams to the Oke-Baale area of Osogbo following a series of violent clashes suspected to be linked to cult activities. The violence has resulted in at least three deaths in the state capital.

On October 2, two individuals, identified as Adebayo Taoreed (known as ‘Small Rugged’) and Oluwaseyi Daniel (known as ‘OSHA’), were shot dead during a suspected clash in the Owo-Eba area. A subsequent incident occurred on October 4 in the Arowomole area, where Rasak Wahab (known as ‘Ojo Iku’) was shot and hospitalized.

Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Zungura has ordered tactical operatives to remain in the affected areas to restore order. The police have launched intelligence-led raids targeting criminal hideouts and identified cult members. The cases have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for investigation.
