Otaviano Costa recovers from calf injury sustained during dance competition

Presenter Otaviano Costa is recovering from a nearly six-centimeter grade two calf injury sustained during rehearsals for the ‘Dança dos Famosos’ segment on the program ‘Domingão com Huck’. The injury occurred while practicing the ‘pagodão baiano’ rhythm, which Costa attributed to excessive physical effort due to a lack of technical dance mastery.

Costa missed the competition's first presentation to avoid aggravating the injury, a decision that resulted in a point penalty for his group. He described the penalty as unfair, stating that the participants were unaware of the specific criteria regarding absences. The loss of points contributed to his team being sent to the competition's repechage.

Under the care of orthopedist Ney Pecegueiro, Costa has returned to dancing while undergoing daily physiotherapy and medication. He noted that full muscle healing typically requires three to four weeks. He also credited his wife, actress Flávia Alessandra, for providing essential emotional support during his recovery.
