Otaviano Costa injury during Dança dos Famosos

Overview

Otaviano Costa sustained an injury during rehearsals for the ‘Dança dos Famosos’ segment of the program ‘Domingão com Huck’. Initially, Costa described the incident as a minor ‘fisgadinha’ (twinge) and used social media to reassure fans that the injury was not serious.

However, it was later revealed that Costa suffered a nearly six-centimeter grade two calf injury while practicing the ‘pagodão baiano’ rhythm. He attributed the injury to excessive physical effort and a lack of technical dance mastery. To avoid aggravating the injury, Costa missed the competition’s first presentation, which resulted in a point penalty for his group and sent the team to the repechage.

Costa has since returned to dancing under the care of orthopedist Ney Pecegueiro, undergoing daily physiotherapy and medication to complete his recovery.
