Ottersberg cyclists log 79,271 km in 2026 Stadtradeln challenge

In the 2026 Stadtradeln campaign, 367 cyclists from Ottersberg rode a total of 79,271 kilometres over three weeks. The effort is estimated to have avoided about 13 tonnes of CO₂ that would have been emitted if the trips had been made by car.

Mayor Tim Willy Weber presented certificates and prizes at a ceremony, noting the result as the second‑best since the town joined the international climate‑bike initiative in 2021. The TSV Fischerhude/Quelkhorn team topped the overall kilometre tally with 12,175 km, followed by “Zum durstigen Otter & Friends” (10,521 km) and the Narthauen community (8,179 km). Individual leaders included David Lodde (2,930 km) among men and Annelie Kleinke (1,469 km) among women. The youngest participant, five‑year‑old Janosch Lodde, rode 73.5 km, while 91‑year‑old Jan Rechten contributed 726 km.
