Otto Addo seeks new coaching role after Ghana Black Stars dismissal
Former Ghana Black Stars head coach Otto Addo confirmed his intention to return to coaching following his dismissal by the Ghana Football Association on March 31, 2024. Addo, who led Ghana to qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup but failed to reach the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, said he is open to serving as a head coach or an assistant coach, noting that “assistant coach work … will also bring me a lot of joy.”
After leaving the national team, Addo contributed to FIFA’s Technical Study Group for the 2026 World Cup and ruled out moving into football administration, describing the time‑commitment of a technical director role as “brutally time‑consuming.” He also spoke about the personal sacrifices required by top‑level coaching, citing the impact on his family of three children.
