Ouagadougou training boosts journalists' anti‑disinformation and youth entrepreneurship

From 4‑5 August 2026, the non‑governmental organisation ACRA held a two‑day workshop in Ouagadougou for about 30 journalists. Participants received instruction on fact‑checking, journalistic ethics, detection of false information and the use of calming language, as well as guidance on handling AI‑generated content. ACRA country coordinator Couldjim Madibé Poingar noted that the trainees “submitted recommendations to the organisers” and pledged to replicate the lessons in their newsrooms. Journalist Nadège Kinda added that the training will make her more cautious about what she shares online.

Between 5‑8 August 2026, the association Buud Nooma Boulgou Bagaré organised a free entrepreneurship and job‑creation course for roughly a hundred young people in Ouagadougou. Association president Jean Baptiste Gagré explained that the programme aims to give participants the knowledge to design and develop business projects and to improve employability. Facilitator Sié Noufou Ilboudo of Impact Plus presented an innovative system for creating jobs and guided attendees through modules on changing perceptions of work, the new employment‑creation system and its implementation steps.
