Ourense University Hospital announces 25 emergency doctor vacancies and three home‑hospitalisation positions

The Official Gazette of Galicia published a public employment offer for 25 emergency‑department doctor posts at the Complexo Hospitalario Universitario de Ourense (CHUO) to be filled for 2026. The offer is described as “partial and anticipatory” because the hospital has been unable to staff these positions through regular transfers, temporary selections or the permanent competition, creating a risk to the continuity and quality of urgent care.

In a related decision, the Galician health service (Sergas) confirmed three permanent home‑hospitalisation doctor posts for Ourense, part of a total of 19 such positions allocated across Galicia. The posts consolidate existing staff who already performed home‑based hospital care, a model introduced in 2021 to allow patients to receive hospital‑level treatment at home and reduce conventional admissions.

Both measures aim to address persistent staffing shortages in urgent and home‑hospitalisation services and to ensure that the population of Ourense continues to receive essential medical care.
