Outdoor swimming pools open for 2026 season in Germany

Outdoor swimming pools in Karlsruhe and the Unterallgäu region have begun their 2026 summer seasons.

In Karlsruhe, the Sonnenbad opened early on March 13, while most other outdoor pools, such as Turmbergbad and Freibad Rüppurr, opened in mid-May. The Rheinstrandbad Rappenwört followed on May 23. Indoor pools in the city closed for the summer break on May 11 and are scheduled to reopen in mid-to-late September.

In the Unterallgäu region, facilities in Mindelheim, Bad Wörishofen, and Türkheim are also opening. The Mindelheim outdoor pool, which opened on May 9, operates with varying hours depending on the month and weather conditions. Mindelheim has implemented a visitor limit of 1,500 people for safety reasons, and the pool may close during poor weather.
